Traditional lathing
Traditional lathing procedures are the "mother" of all manufacturing processes and are still requested today for single items or items that cannot be made on numeric-controlled machines. They still have an important role to play in our company.
We now have traditional parallel lathes, that are not just robust, powerful, easy to manoveure and very precise; they offer also centralised commands and instant changes in the speed of the mandrel.
We offer a lathing service that used different types of iron and non- materials, as well as tempered materials, alloys and super-alloys. All our lathing operations feature state-of-the-art technology.
We principally work with:
- stainless steels AISI 300 series – 400 series – 600 series
- special steels
- Aluminium and Ergal
- Titanium
- Copper-brass-bronze
- Plastics such as Derlin, Nylon, loaded Teflon, Pom, Peek etc
- Graphite
- Tungsten (hard metal)
Numeric-control CNC lathing
Also known as CNC lathing, this system can be considered the most advanced form of lathing. It can do everything that the other systems here described can do, but this happens in total automatism driven by a numerical-control computer.
The parameters of the desired object are inserted into a computer programme, and the elements of the machine are moved by the computer, which receives signals from various laser sensors as the manufacturing process proceeds: these sensors are located in the most essential points of the product such that the successful production of the final item can be checked as we go.
If whatever reasons (such as wear and tear), the sensors reveal that the item no longer falls within the agreed parameters, automatic corrections are made to it. As a result, the precision of the final product that is acheived with this system is extremely high, from hundreds to even thousandths of a millimeter. The machine operator has to do no more than check the data supplied by the computer.
We have numeric-control lathes without loaders that are perfect for the creation of items in small-medium quantities, plus auto-correcting numeric-control lathes to create small-medium batches of product, and numeric-control lathes with bar loaders suited for creating series production.
CNA numeric-control lathes
The parallel flat bench numeric-control lathes, in CNA and CNC series, is the result of a successful merging of ideas, which combines the simplicity of the traditional parallel lathe with the power of a numeric-controlled system. It is, therefore, the ideal machine for those who need to create single items or small-medium batches, as well as staff not trained in the numeric-control programming language.
Our lathes can be used in two different ways:
- Traditional via the use of handwheels for the X and Z axis.
- Auto-correcting, which see the work cycle (based on the design drawings) use a guided computer programme of various cycles (roughing, finishing, conical lathing, threading etc). The result is once again an automated repeatable CNC programme via ISO programming just like a numeric-control lathe.
